About Me
My Approach
I am a licensed clinical psychologist who provides therapy for teens and adults. In therapy, I emphasize building a collaborative and compassionate therapeutic relationship through which positive change can occur. My approach is integrative, and I incorporate psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral, and internal family systems (IFS) techniques to meet the needs of each client. I focus on helping clients learn effective strategies to manage difficult feelings, as well as develop greater insight into how they have been shaped by past experiences.
In addition to therapy, I have expertise in psychological assessment for learning disorders, ADHD, autism spectrum disorder, and diagnostic clarification for emotion concerns. I conduct these assessments through Washington Psychology Associates. I bring this expertise into the therapy room, and I am comfortable providing practical support for executive functioning skills and social communication differences.
I have a particular interest in supporting women during the transition to parenthood, and I have advanced training in perinatal mental health.
I am also passionate about mentoring psychologists-in-training. I provide pro bono therapy and clinical supervision for psychology graduate students. I also consult with several practices in the area to provide assessment supervision to post-doc and early career psychologists.
My Background
Prior to my career as a psychologist, I earned my undergraduate degree in psychology from Princeton University. After a 2-year research fellowship at the NIH, I received my doctoral degree in clinical psychology from The George Washington University. I completed my pre-doctoral internship at the Institute of Living/Hartford Hospital in Hartford, Connecticut and a post-doctoral fellowship at Mt. Washington Pediatric Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland. Since then, I have spent nearly the last 10 years in group and private practice in the DC area.
My Interests
I am a member of the American Psychological Association, the Society for Personality Assessment, and an avid conference attendee. I soak up continuing education and training - both so I can continually hone my skills and also because I love learning about mental health and people. Outside of psychology, I enjoy reading, being active, and exploring the outdoors with my family.
